What DTM can expect from the future

31.10.2020

Hockenheim, the chequered flag was waving for Renè Rast ready to clinch his third title in the series, but the white and black flags flip in the air also to mark the end of an era for DTM, the famous Class One car those given to the german championship popularity and the interest of lots of marques, teams and drivers from 2021 will be replaced - the costs were too high and the marques involved didn't find the commercial platform competitive in the market anymore - by GT3 cars specifications.

This move will align the series lead by ex F1 Gherard Berger to other categories on the European scene, such as GT Open, GT World Challenge Europe and ADAC GT Masters. The main goal for the organizers was to create a unique platform and overcome the high competition. Some days before the title decider races will go on, ITR presented to the world his plan: 5 different platforms on which to base the future on GT3, GT4, Historic, Esport and Electric. The last one is for sure the most interesting one for many things; since some years in fact many categories in different fields are turning their focus to the electric and sustainability this means who will start before others can attract interest and focus from people and media.

The organizer also presented the first prototype of a car to use in the near electric future. The machine made in collaboration with Schaffler presents a tuning silhouette to mark the link and continuity that this project will have with the major German tourism series.

If the electric challenge will be for sure the spearhead of the future, these days has also begun to define the structure of what will be the next chapter of the DTM.

They have in fact arrived the announcements of the confirmation of interest is from the colossus Red Bull - that Albon and Lawson will line up for a program still to be defined - that from the 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button who sees in the series an ideal platform to expand the range of action of his team.

In conclusion, we can say that for the DTM the future is certainly clearer than a few months ago, what I'm sure Berger knows is that to rewrite history once again they do not have to make the same mistakes as the recent past.
